It’s been exactly a year since the massive magnitude 9.0 earthquake and tsunami hit the northeast coast of Japan causing nearly 16,000 people dead and 3,000 still missing.

Disaster areas are far from full recovery, but the people there are standing strong and coming back to a normalcy slowly but steadily.

Silent prayers go out for those who lost their lives.
